Golden Age comics

Just started to look at this website,
looking at Golden Age comics, I could not get any images from that site so I found these.
Am gonna carry on looking for more stuff.

21st January

Well I call that a successful evening. Some old faces and some new came, the little doughnuts were lovely and we could have gone on for another hour.
It felt good in the new room, tea and coffee on tap, and some uninterrupted space to chat. I can honestly say I had a lot of fun. I brought a number of comics for you guys to look at, all published by Dark Horse comics, and we stayed on subject for all of 5 minutes. So that must mean people are arriving with things they want to talk about. That means something must be going right.
With that thought in mind, I am thinking about what comics I should bring to the next forum. I'm edging towards Golden Age, I'm going to look and see what we have in the library before I make any decisions, I hope we can find a few diamonds.
So that is all I have for now.

MySpace Dark Horse Presents.

This is my first review,
Here goes.
I chose this because I found it unusual and revealing. It doesn't go into avant-garde, indie or strange side of comics its just good story telling, quirky, indiviual and funny. I really enjoyed the first story about a garage band's journey into out-space, seeing first look of 'Agent of Hate' and especially reading the Mike Mignola demon story with Old St. Nick over my xmas holiday. I'm trying to think of bad things to say about it, I really am, but I loved these short stories. It made me realise I've missed out on so much 'The Goon'.
I have now decided to read more 'Goon', I will do this I promise.
I'm sure there are stories within this set that I just don't remember, but there aren't any that I just remember for not liking. I think that is saying something.
That's all I have to say right now.
Still getting used to this blog thing. Irregular posting to going to be a common feature.
My biggest hope for the immediate future is to get some of the forum to sign up with googlemail and make them authors for this thing, so they too can add to it as well.
I hope you guys send me stuff to post, a comment for now.
Just looking at the site would be good as well.

As yet you can not just post what you want,
it seems it is quite complex, but it will improve over time, am sure.
At least you can find out what you need to know here when you need to.

So this is it, the relaunch

Hey, a new year and a new begining for the Forum,
We will be using the facilities at Central Library, and I can confirm that it will be on the 3rd Wednesday of every month, at 6pm until 7.30pm more details will come as I get them.
My hope is that we will get to use the lovely Gallery room, but we will see.

Last forum of the year

And this is the last forum of the year.
I want us to discuss some changes we are going to have to make this coming year. This is very important and takes priority over the theme for this months forum. I have being informed that to continue the group after December I can no longer do it outside of my work hours, this could mean a couple of things; first, that we may have to change the day it is on, from a Thursday to either a day like Monday or Wednesday. Second, if we do move the day then we will have to change venue, probably to where I usually work, Central library (2 Fieldway Crescent). Third, if you guys do not want to change either of these then I may not be able to carry on running the forum, one or more of you guys will have to take the lead.

I love doing this Forum for you people, this year have been a blast, but I would also love if you guys decided that one or a few wanted to take more control, run the event every month or share it out month by month. On the other hand the advantages of moving to Central would become apparent immediately, the space we would have use of, the tea and coffee making facilities, various marvels such as these. We will have to decide this month what we want to happen to our forum.

I would like to thank all those who I met up with at the ICA and sat chatting to other borough's comic groups and the artist D'israeli, after the event on Sunday 23rd November. It turned out well, despite finding it late. I made some useful contacts, and the guy was interesting and open to showing us not just how he worked, but was kind enough to draw some sketches to help us learn something. I really enjoyed myself and in the end we were pushed out as the next group came to take our place. I thought is was lovely and informative to speak to people who do a similar thing to our forum, they should be able to let us know about other future events like this one.

So on to this weeks theme, I want you guys to find something unusual, something that either you liked, or perferably did not like and bring it in. Remember you could (and should) reserve it on the Forum's library card, ask for the number and PIN on an email and I will send you it, if it is on the library catalogue, or just bring it if you can get it yourself. It may be something that inspired you or inspired loathing in you, I want as much participation from you guys as possible, even if you can not get in to the forum this month, email and let me know which comics you reserved and why. This will be fun if you all bring something, all I can get are items I think are unusual and/or horrid, so do your best people.

Remember, this is the last Forum of this year, we will be deciding what will happen to the group in the coming year, so even if you can not come in person send me an email with your views, what you think is the best thing to do and any new ideas. I will send everybody another email before the forum meets.

Happy yuletide and all that

What do you think of motion comics?
